Join experienced prayer companions from Portland’s Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) Retreat for a 4-week Prayer Experience. You will learn prayer practices taught by St. Ignatius, including the Examen of Consciousness, scriptural meditation, imaginative prayer and repetition in prayer. Prayer is an important part of our Catholic faith and you will be moved by the richness of our prayer traditions. Come deepen your relationship with God!

Ignatian Prayer Experience

St. Ignatius invited people to prayer that included scriptural meditation, imagination in prayer, and the Examen of Consciousness. During this four-week series you will learn prayer practices that are best for you. Come learn new ways to pray. Come to experience Ignatian Prayer, Come to deepen you prayer life.

Each evening will include a presentation on prayer, quiet time to practice the prayer form presented and an opportunity for faith sharing for those who wish.

Fall 2012 Schedule:
October 24-November 14, 2012

Exploring Ignatian Spirituality

Do you desire a deeper relationship with God? Would you like to renew your faith? Are you looking for ways to enhance your prayer life?

Ignatian spirituality helps people discover God working in our daily lives. It invites us into deeper knowledge of God’s Love and into great freedom to follow God’s call.

This program was created from the teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola to give people an opportunity to discover God in daily life through various forms of prayer. It is intended to provide an introductory experience of Ignatian spirituality. Each gathering will include a presentation, quiet reflection and small group conversation.

Questions for your reflection as you consider participating in Exploring Ignatian Spirituality:

What are my hopes and expectations for this experience?
What have been key moments in my faith journey?
What have been the ongoing themes and struggles in my relationship with God?
What are my current habits and ways of praying?
Am I willing to commit to: 15-30 minutes of daily prayer, weekly gathering attendance, and group faith sharing participation?
